The Eastern Cape Rural Development Agency (ECRDA), in collaboration with the Matatiele Local Municipality, Alfred Nzo Development Agency (ANDA), Alfred Nzo Community Radio, the Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform (DRDAR), the Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs, and Tourism (DEDEAT), and the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), recently hosted a highly successful Agricultural Show, Trade Fair, and Funding Awareness event at Matatiele Fresh Produce.
The event attracted farmers, small businesses (SMMEs), and agricultural enthusiasts from Matatiele and the surrounding areas, creating a vibrant platform for promoting agricultural development. The primary objectives were to showcase local products, foster business connections, and provide valuable information about funding opportunities available for agricultural projects.
Throughout the day, attendees explored a variety of exhibits displaying locally produced goods, innovative farming techniques, and services tailored to the agricultural sector. The trade fair aspect of the event allowed small businesses to network with potential partners and customers, strengthening the local agricultural value chain.
Key sessions during the event focused on funding awareness, where representatives from ECRDA, DEDEAT, and ECDC provided insights into the financial support available to farmers and SMMEs. These sessions aimed to demystify the funding process, guiding attendees on how to access resources to expand and improve their agricultural operations.
A highlight of the event was the interactive workshops and demonstrations, which offered practical advice on modern farming practices and sustainable agricultural methods. Participants left the event not only more informed but also inspired to implement new strategies to enhance their productivity and profitability.
The Agricultural Show, Trade Fair, and Funding Awareness event underscored the collaborative effort among government agencies, local authorities, and community organizations to boost the agricultural sector in Matatiele. It served as a testament to the region’s commitment to empowering its farmers and small businesses, laying the groundwork for future growth and prosperity.
