oday marks a significant milestone for the Eastern Cape Rural Development Agency (ECRDA) as we proudly welcome our new Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Simpiwe Somdyala!

With an impressive 30-year track record in SMME development, enterprise finance, and agribusiness, Mr. Somdyala brings unparalleled expertise to our organization. His passion for economic transformation and entrepreneurship is contagious, and we are thrilled to have him lead our team.

Mr. Somdyala joins us from Amadlelo Agri (PTY) LTD, where he served as CEO, overseeing the company’s dairy and agricultural operations. His experience in driving inclusive growth, poverty alleviation, and food security will be invaluable in our mission to empower communities.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Somdyala has held various leadership positions, including:

– General Manager for Corporate Affairs at Old Mutual Limited
– CEO of the Old Mutual Masisizane Fund
– CEO of Hans Merensky Holdings and African Management Services Company (AMSCO)

He has also established his own management consulting firm, focusing on economic development, strategy formulation, and SMME enhancement.

Mr. Somdyala’s leadership extends to various directorial and trustee roles in esteemed organizations, including:

– Small Enterprise Foundation (SEF)
– Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC)
– Wilderness Foundation Africa
– Nelson Mandela University Council
– Old Mutual sub-boards

With his exceptional qualifications, including an Honours B Com and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees, Mr. Somdyala is well-equipped to drive ECRDA’s vision forward.
