Nomagcina Suduka is a 31-year-old emerging poultry farmer from Magqukela Village, located in the Great Kei Municipality. Passionate about farming and rural development, she is steadily building a sustainable agricultural business that contributes to both local food security and economic growth.
ECRDA Support
Nomagcina has applied for her first loan through the Eastern Cape Rural Development Agency’s (ECRDA) Rural Finance Facility. The funding will enable her to purchase layer chickens, poultry feed, and vaccines, key inputs that will allow her to expand and diversify her poultry enterprise.
She currently manages 150 broiler chickens and also cultivates vegetables, demonstrating her commitment to integrated farming. Her poultry structure is well-built and has the capacity to house up to 500 birds, indicating readiness for scale.
Market Access
She supplies fresh chickens to Magqukela Public School, securing a reliable and consistent market within her community. This not only strengthens her business, but also supports local food supply and nutrition.
A Promising Future
In addition to her poultry and vegetable ventures, Nomagcina has inherited 117 livestock and essential farming equipment from her late father, including a tractor, trailer, and plough. These assets position her strongly for future expansion into mixed farming and mechanised production.
